Symphony of Science is a website founded in 2009 by John Boswell that is “designed to deliver scientific knowledge and philosophy in musical form.” Boswell uses a software program called “AutoTune” to artificially tune the voices of various scientists to various notes, thereby creating music videos with the lead singers being famous astronomers, biologists, and physicists.
This installation expresses the central theme of scientists pushing for a manned voyage to Mars. The video describes some of the most beautiful features of Mars and compelling reasons why humans could potentially colonize this planet.
*Robert Zubrin, Carl Sagan, Brian Cox, and Penelope Boston.
The Poetry of Reality
This video describes the beauty of science in general, containing quotes from a plethora of scientists from an extremely wide range of scientific fields.
*Michael Shermer, Jacob Bronowski, Carl Sagan, Neill deGrasse Tyson, Richard Dawkins, Jill Tarter, Lawrence Krauss, Brian Greene, Stephen Hawking, Carolyn Porco, and PZ Myers.
The Unbroken Thread
The Unbroken Thread focuses largely on the field of biology (specifically our evolution and ancestry), and it marvels at the “unbroken thread that stretches from those first cells to us.”
*David Attenborough, Carl Sagan, and Jane Goodall.
Our Place in the Cosmos
This video attempts to put the human condition in perspective with a focus on cosmological perplexions and promote the continued search for scientific understanding.
*Robert Jastrow, Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, and Michio Kaku.
We Are All Connected
This video marvels at the vast amount of interrelationships present in the cosmos between man, our planet, and the universe.
*Neill deGrasse Tyson, Richard Feynman, Carl Sagan, Bill Nye.
A Glorious Dawn
John Boswell’s debut video. It contains video clips from Carl Sagan’s Cosmos series and Stephen Hawking’s Universe, and is the most popular to date.
